Fyrne Lake Farms Fish Catches

On Friday, July 9th, Thurmond Whitehead caught this 35 lb Yellow Cat while fishing in Fyrne Lake.  This big catfish was caught on a micro-light rod with 4# test line & 1/16 oz. lure/jig.

On June 7th 2010, Otha Lewis landed this  4 lb, 8 oz bass on 4# test and a 1/64 oz. jig.  His fishing buddy Dwight is holding the fish in this picture.

This is a 5 lb bass caught by Tom Thomason of Birmingham, Alabama.  Tom landed it after an extended fight on an ultra light rod equipped with 6 lb test.  The picture was taken by his brother-in-law, Jeff Caldwell, while fishing Memorial Day 2010.

Ray and Otha Lewis caught this cooler full of stripes and bream the morning of 5/31/10.

Don Bogaski caught this nice 5 lb, 22” bass the morning of March 20, 2010.
This nice size bass was caught by Ray Lewis on March 6th 2010.  Shortly before this catch, Ray caught a 2 ½ pound bass.   The thumb in lower area of the picture belongs to Otha Lewis, Ray’s father.
This 75lb catfish was removed from Fyrne Lake on May 2nd, 2009.  It had over 40 lbs of filets! Roland Criswell is holding the wheel barrel and Andrew Griffith is standing to the left.
This 3 1/8 lb bass was caught Friday 4/24/09 by Don Bogaski at 11:45am on a crank bait.  Don found a tag on the fish and discovered from Kevin that it had been tagged during electrofishing in June 2008 and weighed just over 2 lbs at that time.   The pound of growth is great confirmation that our baitfish stocking and fertilization program is working!

On Oct 11th 2008, Dick Fauth brought in this 29 lb, 7 oz White Amur (grass carp) after a 10 minute fight on ultra light tackle equipped with 3 lb test line and a 1/64th oz jig... Amazing!
Mark Lewis caught this 5 lb, 12 oz Bass at Fyrne Lake with his father David Lewis, July 2, 2008.  He landed it just 10 minutes after their fishing started and Mark released it to be caught another day!
20,000 spawning size Threadfin Shad were stock in Fyrne Lake on April 28, 2008.  They will provide a quality open water food source for our Large Mouth Bass and Crappie.

We are removing all the White Amurs (Grass Carp) we can from Fyrne Lake to enable the establishment of desirable plant life.  In this picture Kevin Griffith and Roland Criswell are holding two 32 lb Grass Carp that were captured April 26, 2008.
This 6.9 lb bass was caught just 5 minutes after Thurman Whitehead started fishing March 14th 2008. After borrowing a scale from another boat, Thurman weighed the fish and released it back into the lake.  As it swam away a fisherman in the boat who had loaned the scale said he could not believe he let it go! Thurman said, "I wouldn't dream of killing a beautiful fish like that."   Thank you Thurman!  And the next fisherman who catches that fish thanks you too!

Otha B. Lewis caught this 6 lb 3 oz bass May 18th, 2007 along with 11 other fish.

Here is another nice bass caught April 4th, 2007 by Otha Lewis.  It was 19" long, 3 1/2 lbs.
One of 60+ fish caught and released by Jimmy Gladden and his grandson, Tyler Gladden (pictured) on April 6th 2007.
Jimmy Gladden's catch is great confirmation that our Black Crappie stocking from fall of 2005 combined with our baitfish stocking in the spring of 2005 and 2006 are working!
In Oct 2006 Jimmy Gladden caught this 16", 2.4 lb Black Crappie! Wow!
This Bass weighed in at almost 8 lbs!  It was caught by Otha B. Lewis at 9:00AM on Sept. 16th 2006 on 4 lb test line.  It put up a great fight. Otha released it to give us a chance to catch it another day.
On July 7, 2006 Ethel Hastings caught this Bluegill on her 90th birthday!  She had not been fishing in over 60 years and was thrilled to have a fish on the line again! Her grandson, David Lewis, brought her to Fyrne Lake as one part of her daylong birthday celibration. Within 5 minutes Ethel had hooked and landed this keeper.
Dwight Paschal is holding a 14.7 lb catfish caught with 4 lb test line on March 24th, 2006.  Otha B. Lewis was fishing with Dwight at the time and assisted by netting the fish after Dwight's 20 minute battle!
Here is a picture from the history books.  This 10 lb, 4 oz Bass was caught by Mike French in the 1980's on a rubber worm.
